Selenium is an open-source project for a range of tools and libraries that can automate web browsers. That is why testers rely on Selenium as it has very unique and powerful automation capabilities. Selenium supports a range of browsers and automates web applications. Selenium is in fact, a boon for testers as it supports Python and Python, as we all know, in the current environment, is one of the easiest programming languages to learn in the world. Selenium contains tools which connect with the respective browsers and assist in the automation of browser actions and hence testers worldwide prefer Selenium as the primary tool for testing How can then Python be combined with Selenium? As mentioned earlier, Selenium can do several things and supporting Python is one of them. Hence it is used with Python as Selenium Web driver for the purposes of testing.
You, as a tester, should learn Python, because, among all other Programming languages, Python is the easiest to learn and it has minimal syntax. When you compare Python with Java, Python is very simple, yet powerful enough. It is also free and an open-source language and anyone can learn Python with minimal effort as it involves very less coding. Compared to Python, Java, as we all know, has a steeper learning curve due to its lengthy syntax and static typing. Python, on the other hand, is the simplest language as it is very easy to understand and requires Zero Coding knowledge. It is also a newer language in relation to Java and more widely accepted due to its ease of learning and the simplicity of its code. Many of the commands in Python are similar to words in the English language, which automatically makes it easier to code and read. Testing is sometimes repetitive and since the commands in Python can be used to speed up testing, it is imperative for every tester to learn Selenium with Python.
