Course Description
VBScript stands for Visual Basic Script language and it is essentially a fusion of Visual Basic programming language and JavaScript language. It was invented and maintained by Microsoft and is much lighter compared to Visual Basic programming language. The advantage is that it also works as a scripting language like JavaScript. In fact, VBScript is the primary scripting language for QTP/UFT, which is a test automation tool. VBScript is quite popular, especially in the Microsoft ecosystem and hence useful for students as it has the following features: It is a lightweight scripting language and has a very fast interpreter For most of the parts, it is case insensitive and hence it is very convenient to use Its syntax is one of the simplest and hence very comfortable for students to learn and implement Compared to Java and C++, it is an Object-Based Scripting language and not an Object-Oriented Programming language It is especially important for beginners who aspire to learn a scripting language or automation tools like QTP/UFT VBScript is used in QTP/UFT for coding and running Automated Test Scripts. It is in fact, one of the easiest languages to learn and can be mastered by someone with little or absence of basic programming skills. Currently, it is used as a default scripting language for ASP. From a career perspective, Automation Testers, who aim to create, maintain, and execute the tests in QTP/UFT would be in great demand if they learn VBScript.
